Paid for the Flight!

I paid for my plane tickets! Matsumotosan also helped me reserve a ticket to ride overnight orange ferry to Osaka. From there, I can ride a bus that will take me to Kansai airport. I also paid for that stuff. I can pick up the tickets as soon as Oct 3.

Tickets on Hold

I made my way to the travel agency after school. I had to wait a few minutes for Matsumotosan to be available. She is the only fluent English speaker there. I found it different that she had to call an office to find out the prices for available flights. When I went to travel cuts at McMaster, the travel agent looked everything up on her computer. I asked for the cheapest dates at the end of December, going in to January. The best price turned out to fit neatly into my student's vacation period. She's holding the tickets for me right now. I'm going to go back tomorrow with my passport and bank card so I can actually book the flight.

Heidi:

It is currently rainy season in Thailand until November. Thai Airways flys Bangkok/Chiang Mai. If you arrive in Chiang Mai before 8am a van can pick you up. If you arrive after 8am, we will send a private van to take you to ENP, cost 1500 baht. If you need to leave ENP before 5pm, another 1500baht back to Chiang Mai.

Volunteering is important all year! Please send request of time so we can make sure there will be room. Please go to elephantnaturepark.org/go/volunteer to register and make a 30% deposit and send that info and you will receive confirmation.

Any other questions, ask and thank you from the elephants.

I looked up elephant centres in Thailand. I'm planning to volunteer for a week during one of my holidays. I've been wanting to do this since the end of my third semester in April 2008. However, elephants lived too far for a cheap flight and it wouldn't be worth it unless I stayed at least a month to volunteer. I didn't have that sort of time so I had to set that dream aside. Recently, I realized that I now live in Asia and elephants are in the neighbourhood!
